THE BEAUTY OF MYSTERY

The ancients foretold that there would come a time when She would correct what was wayward. She wouldn’t impose it on us like some tyranny were so tired of. She would make it an invitation, with wild weather, cries of dying animals, indigenous rights and relentless fights to pledge allegiance to the land as source of our sustenance and lost kinship to Her, the Mother whose breasts nourish all…

2014 THEMES: SUBTLE ACTIVISM

I have a feeling this next year is going to see a massive shift in how people are operating to better themselves, their lives and the life of the world around them. And I think one of the keys is that people are going to come to powerful understanding that intentional transformation can happen by the slightest of shifts of awareness and belief and that such shifts can cause unknown and amazing ripples of influence in their lives and those that are connected to them. This will coincide with an increase in practices of awareness practices, mindfulness and deepening of yoga and its inherent desire to foster immense connection. People are becoming more aware of energy and energy is consciousness. As this goes on, people will literally and palpably begin to FEEL more and more shimmers of sensation INSTANTLY in their being as they shift perspectives.

WINTRY MUSINGS

It is these nights which are my favourite. When the darkness is so barren it seems to bleed mystery. The moonlight finding lover in the snow, shimmering ecstatically in its embrace, making 'magical' a mantra which enchants the weary soul. The frigid wind a menacing force, nature overwhelming the efficiency of the shivering city. We can't move so fast and cars hide in snow banks. We are brought to other considerations as we slow down and notice what was missed in the blur before. Humbling, bringing knees to a clumsy, unrecognized worship, that exposes itself in the surfacing waters of our eyes, wet with wonder.

THE REBIRTH OF LIGHT: CELEBRATING THE WINTER SOLSTICE

In our modern times, the Winter Solstice is nothing more than a marker for the beginning of the Winter season; a season often anticipated with much dread.  Much of the reason we dread the transition into the wintry season is that we’ve lost touch with how to embrace and embody the spirit or rhythm of the seasons.  This has been a gradual cultural movement away from traditions that honoured our place in nature to our modern materialist, secular version of culture where such traditions are often so completely forgotten that many are not even aware that our ancestors used to live in such a way, even more recently than one might suspect.

GOODNESS IS A GIFT TO BE GIVEN & A TRUTH WORTH LIVIN'

Goodness is a sweet thing that is burrowed in our bones. Nay, shining in our spirals of DNA; is the shine. So many times in my journey in this life when I find myself hung out wayward, clawing back desperately to some vague balance by reading book after book, theorizing, contemplating, reflecting to endless meanderings in futility, I find a constant comfort the moment I remember it all really comes down to doing something good, and good for someone else.
